i was in philadelphia for the past four days, helping my youngest daughter move into her new home-away-from-home on the campus of the university of pennsylvania, where she will join the rest of the class of 2010 as they learn to deal with the reality of claustrophic dorm rooms, shared bathrooms, cafeteria meal plans, and coin-operated washers and dryers. i'm sure i'll hear all about the nuances of life at penn ("it's not penn state!") as the semester progresses.

while we were there, i played shuttle driver, plying the routes from target to ikea to bed bath and beyond to staples, and back (due to the usual returns/exchanges), with side trips to the supermarket and drug store to pick up other necessities. we also managed to squeeze in the requisite cheesesteak run, opting to visit jim's steaks on south street (on a rainy day, it's definitely better to sit indoors where it's nice and dry rather than brave the elements at pat's and geno's).

and while i was running around town getting daughter #2 settled down, i was also in touch via cellphone with daughter #1, who was feverishly trying to find a moving truck to move her belongings from providence to boston; apparently, even if she had a confirmed reservation, the rental company couldn't produce the vehicle she needed when she needed it. the last i heard, she had to resort to hiring movers because she gave up waiting for a truck to materialize.

to think i thought i'd have time to take a yoga class or two while i was there. ha!

needless to say, with all the activities we had on our plate for those few days, the closest i got to a computer was when i peered through the window of the dorm's computer lab. so it was no surprise that when i finally logged in this morning, i had over 300 pieces of email in my inbox! and after deleting spam and spam-like mail, i'm still left with about 200 to sort through... argh.

i just checked my blog site activity while i was gone and was pleasantly surprised to find a spike in the number of hits earlier this week. it turns out that a fitness blogsite thought my site was worth a visit and posted a link to it. obviously, i'm flattered :)

here's what thatsfit.com, a website "For a deeper breath, a stronger body, a cleaner life", had to say:

Fit Hits: Sunday, August 27

As fabulous as we at That's Fit think this blog is, the truth is there are hundreds of wonderful blogs on healthy living to be seen all over the blogosphere. So in this feature, Fit Hits, we'll introduce you to some that have caught our eye.

Accidental Yogist -- After California girl Joni seriously injured her knee in a skiing accident, she started dabbling in yoga classes while taking a prescribed break from long distance running. She found that not only was yoga good for her knee and the rest of her body, but it was also good for her mind. Her website chronicles her journey so far as an accidental yogist.

so while you all check out thatsfit.com to read their other posts on food, health, and fitness, i have to get back to reading the usual assortment of jokes, email bargains, and yoga studio updates that are still sitting in my mail queue. and if i'm lucky, there will also be mail from one or both of my daughters to let me know how they're surviving.
