moving and praying with one's body
i just received an update from american public media, which produces and distributes speaking of faith with krista tippett, public radio's peabody award-winning conversation about religion, meaning, ethics and ideas. they wanted me to share with you some details about an upcoming program, yoga: meditation in action ~
The 5,000 year-old tradition of yoga is converging intriguingly with 21st century medical science and culture. This week, Speaking of Faith explores the practicalities and power of yoga. Krista Tippett's guest, Seane Corn, is a renowned yoga teacher who is also a leader in applying yoga's spiritual lessons to global, social crises. She describes yoga's potential to be meditation in action, and explores it as a form of "body prayer."
"Yoga: Meditation in Action" will air on public radio stations nationwide from Thursday, September 11 through Wednesday, September 17 (here in LA, speaking of faith airs on sundays at 4pm on 89.3 KPCC).
the interview is featured online at speakingoffaith.org where you can download and podcast the program and find broadcast locations and times.
there are also links to seane's bio and her thoughts on vinyasa flow yoga -- how it's all about linking movement and breath without compromising one's body.
which reminds me... she's teaching at exhale venice tonight. maybe i should sneak out of the office early so i can listen to her speak in person :)
