back in business!

it's been a long and arduous journey for the iyengar yoga institute of LA -- from the time they first found out that they had to leave their west hollywood studio, to the countless fundraisers that were held to raise the money needed to find a new location, to their finally finding the perfect spot to build their new home. and now that construction's just about over, here's the good news:

The new IYILA opens Thursday Evening, Sept. 4!

Dear members of the IYILA yoga community,

We are pleased to announce that we have nearly completed the transition phase of our move from 8233 West 3rd. Street, to our new home at 1835 South La Cienega Blvd.

Due to unforeseen changes in the construction schedule, the opening of the Institute for classes is delayed by two and a half day. Our first day of classes will be Thursday, Sept. 4, beginning with the children's class at 4:15pm.

Note: The Institute will be inaugurating a new schedule of classes. As we are in the final stages of preparing the space, there may be minor changes to the schedule so be sure to check the schedule online before coming to class anytime in the next week.

Finding the new studio: we are located in the La Cienega Plaza shopping center at La Cienega Blvd. and 18th street, just north of the I-10 freeway. The Institute is on the second floor, directly across from LA Fitness.

Parking: Park in the 3-story parking structure in the back (entrances are on 18th Street or Sawyer) and follow the Iyengar Yoga signs.

Please check in frequently at www.iyila.org, or call us at our new number, 310-558-8212, for all information and updates.

We apologize for any inconvenience during our move in the last week. We look forward to seeing you in our wonderful new home.

update, sept 4th: not wanting to miss the grand opening, i showed up today for the 6:30pm level 2 class with kishor stein. we were all thrilled to be among the first to check out the new space!

i have to say that the wait was definitely worth it -- the new studio is brighter, with freshly painted walls, brand new carpeting in the lobby and bamboo floors in the classrooms, and skylights in the ceilings. the large assortment of props are either brand new or freshly scrubbed, including new rope walls. and best of all, the parking is FREE and practically unlimited!

speaking of parking, the easiest access is via the 18th street side of the shopping complex, right behind the toys r us store. park on the second level and follow the LA fitness gym rats into the building. once inside, they'll go left and you'll go right; you can't miss the large sign by the entrance :)
