public displays of affection

as you're probably well aware by now, this sunday, february 14th, is valentine's day.

while many will be giving their loved ones FTD flowers, godiva chocolates, hallmark cards and possibly even making dinner reservations at fancy-schmancy restaurants to show how much they care, i and two of my unattached girlfriends will be heading to thai town on V-day to treat ourselves to relaxing thai massages and delicious thai food... all because we care enough to enjoy the very best!

valentine's day is also the time when there'll a lot of public displays of affection going on -- people holding hands, cuddling, kissing, and in some cases, climbing on top of each other in the presence of people they may or may not know... otherwise known as partner yoga :)

so if that sounds like an adventurous and novel way for you to spend quality time with your significant other, even if that other is a family member or friend, here's a list of partner yoga workshops going on this weekend:

In the texts of yoga philosophy there is a concept called Vimarsha which translates as Divine Reflection. These aspects of flying allow the spine of the flyer to open and stretch while the base (the person holding the flyer) receives a strengthening exercise. It is a practice in trust, in your partner but more importantly within yourself. This practice allows you to grow and expand and open up to new opportunities, and creates possibilities that you could not achieve on your own.Wear comfortable yoga clothes. Come with a mat and a friend, a partner or just on your own. You will definitely meet a great bunch of people.
