i seriously thought i'd had all this weekend's new year's happenings taken care of when i posted the christmas / new year's day class schedules last week. little did i know that almost everyone would come up with last-minute yoga celebrations/classes/whatever!
so here's a compilation of what i've found so far. i'm sure more updates will be posted between now and saturday morning (aka the morning of new year's eve, aka the very-very-last-minute). so stay tuned, as always.

on a side note -- yes, the rose parade in pasadena is traditionally held on january 1st, but exceptions are made when that date falls on a sunday:
"The Tournament of Roses is a tradition full of traditions, one of which is our "Never on Sunday" policy. In 1893, officials decided to move the parade to Monday, January 2 to avoid frightening horses tethered outside local churches and thus interfering with worship services. As a result of this reverent gesture, speculation abounds as to the rare instances of rainfall on New Year's Day (only ten times in Rose Parade history), prompting some to ask the Tournament about its special pact with a "friend upstairs." ~ pasadena tournament of roses website
which means that if you plan to go anywhere near pasadena on MONDAY january 2nd, steer clear of the parade route as well as all access routes to it from the nearby freeways. just to show you how chaotic it's expected to get, yoga house has announced that they'll be closed the morning of jan 2nd. a wise move, if you ask me.

What a way to breathe out 2011 and breathe in 2012! Beach Yoga on Saturday, New Year's Eve day, and Sunday, New Year's Day! The weather is going to be, frankly, ridiculous: no chance of rain, sunny skies, and in the 70s by noontime! This is why we live here, of course. I'm especially looking forward to sharing this special time with all of you. Both days can be full of meaning, for each person in their own way. Bring your way, and let us combine our energies in this celebration of old and new.

on a side note -- yes, the rose parade in pasadena is traditionally held on january 1st, but exceptions are made when that date falls on a sunday:
"The Tournament of Roses is a tradition full of traditions, one of which is our "Never on Sunday" policy. In 1893, officials decided to move the parade to Monday, January 2 to avoid frightening horses tethered outside local churches and thus interfering with worship services. which means that if you plan to go anywhere near pasadena on MONDAY january 2nd, steer clear of the parade route as well as all access routes to it from the nearby freeways. just to show you how chaotic it's expected to get, yoga house has announced that they'll be closed the morning of jan 2nd. a wise move, if you ask me.

The weather is going to be, frankly, ridiculous: no chance of rain, sunny skies, and in the 70s by noontime! This is why we live here, of course. I'm especially looking forward to sharing this special time with all of you. Both days can be full of meaning, for each person in their own way.
