the green team

i received this announcement via email earlier today:

Whole Life Times Joins Forces with Gaiam, Inc. to Create Unified LOHAS Source

August 6, 2007

Dear Friend of Whole Life Times,

As LA’s chosen catalyst for conscious community for nearly three decades, Whole Life Times has undergone quite the evolution. To keep up with the dynamic audience we serve, we’ve had to learn to continually adapt — and grow. It’s what makes our jobs interesting, as well as what keeps us relevant.

Which is why it’s such a great pleasure to announce our newest transformation (you can read the official press release here). The Conscious Enlightenment family — Whole Life Times, Common Ground in San Francisco and Conscious Choice in Seattle and Chicago — is joining forces with Gaiam, Inc., Zaadz, Inc., and LIME Media to create a unified LOHAS platform of likeminded companies, products, services and media — both online and off.

As we grow our vision of enlightened community, expand our coverage and broaden our content, we’d like to extend our deepest appreciation for your continued support. We couldn’t have done this without you.

Here’s to 30 more years (and beyond)!

— The team at Whole Life Times

ok, am i the only one who doesn't know what "LOHAS" stands for??

thanks once again to google, i found the answer; here the definition from the lohas.com website:

LOHAS is an acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, a market segment focused on health and fitness, the environment, personal development, sustainable living, and social justice.

LOHAS companies practice "responsible capitalism" by providing goods and services using economic and environmentally sustainable business practices.

LOHAS consumers, sometimes referred to as Lohasians, are interested in products covering a range of market sectors and sub-sectors, including: Green building supplies, socially responsible investing and "green stocks", alternative healthcare, organic clothing and food, personal development media, yoga and other fitness products, eco-tourism and more.

a "lohasian"? sounds like one of my people... i wonder if i can put myself down as that the next time i have to answer the "ethnic background" question... :)
