i challenge you!

the KCRW summer pledge drive is here once again! it started last friday, august 3rd and will run until next monday, august 13th.

(for those of you who are regular visitors to my site, you've probably heard me talk about this santa monica-based NPR radio station many times before; in fact, i've counted over two dozen posts where i've mentioned KCRW at least once! if you've somehow missed reading about why i think this is the best radio station in LA, as well as on the internet at kcrw.com, you can read the post i wrote during the last drive here.)

during my volunteer shift last saturday, i made a donation, and with it i issued this challenge (and i hope they had time to read it over the air): i challenge all yogis who use the KCRW fringe benefits discount on their yoga classes to renew their subscription!

so the question is: have YOU subscribed to KCRW yet?

if you haven't, just think about all these yoga class discounts that could be available to you here in LA if you pledge at the $50 level or higher:

~ yoga shakti, orange county - $3 off individual class price, 10% off class series
~ yoga works, various locations - 20% off individual classes, excludes series

how can you pass up on this deal? if you take a look at all the other local businesses that offer fringe benefits discounts, you could be saving yourself a few bucks here and there every day!

and looking at it from the other side, if you were a yoga studio looking to lure in more students, why wouldn't you want to sign up and become a part of this fantastic program?

take, for example, the studio where i took a yoga class earlier this evening. i showed up for a drop-in class and asked if they offered the KCRW discount on the $18 single class rate. and they did NOT! for me, that's a big disincentive to visit them on a regular basis. tsk, tsk... i suppose there's a possibility that the owner doesn't even know that the program exists; with all the student discounts she offers, i find it hard to believe that she'd actually choose to pass on this one...

anyway, i have many more shifts scheduled throughout this pledge drive, with most of them being during the late-night and weekend hours. maybe i'll get a chance to talk with you when you call in to make your pledge?
