getting back on track
there was a time when i used to write. a lot. at my peak, i averaged about two blog posts a week. now i'm lucky if i can post two a month.
i blame it all on facebook. and twitter.
i'm sure many of you are nodding your heads right now, totally agreeing with me.
instead of writing about all the crazy things i've been getting myself into, i've been spending my time reading about the crazy things my friends have been getting themselves into. and while that's amusing to me, my blog has fallen somewhat by the wayside.
as i look around the room where i sit, i find myself surrounded by books, CDs, DVDs, yoga props, nutritional supplements, and all kinds of sample products that vendors have sent me to try out and possibly review. and you can probably guess where i stand with that :(
to all - mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
so for my new year's resolution, even if we're already two weeks into the new year, i'm going to set aside some time each day to try out a product, whether it be to listen to a kirtan CD, watch a yoga video, use a yoga prop during a class, or just sit and savor a food product that's been calling my name. and write.
life's too short to be spending hours of it in front of a computer or on a smartphone checking to see what my friends are up to... but then again, how else am i supposed to find out which yoga events i need to invite myself to? :)
or maybe that should be my new year's resolution instead -- to find balance in everything that i do!
by the way, if you're just as addicted to facebook and twitter as i am, you can follow me:

here's to succeeding in our new year's resolutions!!

Hi
i totally agree that Facebook and twitter are addictive but please don't do this to us.
Your Yoga blogs are our food for thought.
So please get back to blogs for us
Ill toast to maintaining New Year's Resolutions! One of which is to sustain a new blog, www.DailyBandha.com
Come say hi!
Namasté
I totally agree - here i sit on my fat butt reading and posting on stupid social networking sites where i am and what i'm doing?
I need to see a shrink... or better yet, my trainer and gym!
I think you're right that it is about finding balance. I'm not on twitter, but I've been on facebook for a couple of years and only recently starting reading several yoga blogs and started my own. Now I read those and spend less time on facebook. I enjoy it more. Nevertheless, I am trying to make a conscious effort to not be on the computer as much. As much as I love reading about yoga and connecting with a virtual community, I still don't want to be electronically connected all the time. Like you, I want some balance. I want to actually interact with people, have alone time, and practice yoga both on and off the mat.
That was a long comment. Your blog inspired something in me!
sounds like we all have our own resolutions -- more time writing, more time at the gym, more time connecting with people, and of course, more time for yoga! good luck to all of us!

Ah, the need to go online at Facebook can be very distracting. It's such a pleasant way to spend time with your network of friends. Some people even do a 'Facebook Fast' just to get back in focus. Keep up the great articles on your blog please, and will like your Facebook page. Thanks!
